A multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, received a warm welcome upon arrival in Liberia on Saturday. The team was greeted by Sekou S. Kanneh, Representative and Chairman of the Executive of Liberia’s House of Representatives, and India’s Ambassador to Liberia, Manoj Bihari Verma.
In a strong message of solidarity, Kanneh expressed Liberia’s firm support for India in its fight against terrorism. “We welcome our counterparts from India and stand with them in the fight against terrorists. We’ve had our share of war—we don’t want more trouble in West Africa. Terrorists are our number one enemy, and the entire world needs to unite to defeat them,” Kanneh said while speaking to ANI.
Shrikant Shinde expressed his gratitude for the reception and reaffirmed the deep ties between India and Liberia. “We are thankful to the Liberian government for the warm welcome. India and Liberia have shared a strong bilateral relationship, and we value our mutual goodwill. The message of peace, our zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, and the voice of 1.4 billion Indians, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be appreciated here,” Shinde said.
The delegation’s visit is part of a broader diplomatic outreach initiative following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir. The aim is to engage international partners and build global consensus against cross-border terrorism.
Along with Shinde, the delegation includes BJP MP Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, BJD MP Sasmit Patra, Indian Union Muslim League MP E.T. Mohammed Basheer, and former diplomat Sujan Chinoy.
The team is one of several all-party delegations dispatched globally to share India’s perspective on terrorism, strengthen bilateral ties, and promote collective action for peace and security.
